Ladder Rock in Granville 10:00 am to 2:30 pm July 22nd
Parking on the side of Old Westfield Road at Gate 1 put 568 Old Westfield Road into your GPS. Gate 1 is located at the intersection of Wildcat Road, Winchell Road and Old Westfield Road.

Hike Rating: Moderate, 5 mile loop with elevation.
We will climb 590 feet up Drake Mountain from Old Westfield Road past old cellar holes from Colonial settlers through a mixed hardwood forest including much Mountain Laurel to the summit where Ladder Rock is located. If hikers choose to climb the ladder, they will be rewarded with a glorious view of the Pioneer Valley including Mount Tom. We will then descend on the old Road to see giant old growth trees to complete a loop. Ladder Rock is a boulder precariously left from the glacial melt atop Drake Mountain very near the summit. The mountain itself divides the Pioneer Valley from the Hilltowns bordering Cobble Mountain Reservoir. Native American history and early colonial settlers made this area their home, however most was taken by eminent domain for water supply to the Pioneer Valley. Granville Reservoir, which supplies water to Westfield sits to the West.
